Inspite of extensive centralization since 1960, Ingøy is still a vital community based on natural resources. Today 30 inhabitants still survive and have a good life here. The most basic facilities for a functional community are available, such as post office, a new shop, new fishing factory, Church, school (children 6-16 years), new fast wireless internet connection (5000 kbts), and good communication with the mainland (30-60 minutes) by express ferry. Most people have work connected to the fisheries – and gradually tourism will be more important (going projects).

Other benefits for people in this region are for instance lower taxes, higher family allowances and possibility for achieving subsidies for starting a business. We will help new inhabitants as far as we can to find somewhere to stay – the rents are low out here – so you don’t need a high income to survive.
