Ingøy has a good social environment where most people work together for mutual benefit and projects. But like all other small places, somebody has to take an initiative. The quay at the fishing factory and the local shop are the most important places where people meet each other and discuss everyday life and problems. Almost all the 30 inhabitants have their houses in a radius og 400 metres from the center there you find everything you need: post, store, factory, school, church, ferry etc.

The population consist mostly of middle aged people, a few young people and not so many old people. Most people have a job. But we have a good environment for bringing up children. It is a safe place to live with almost no traffic (only four cars), no criminals and no pollution – but a great scenery and nature.

Some possible disadvantages of living here:
· limited travelling possibilities to the mainland
· the weather could change very fast and dramatically
· long winters, usually from November to March
· no sun for 2 months in winter
· limited possibilities for work
· not so many organized spare time activities
· not so many cultural events
